MINERAL MAKE-UP
Definition:
A silk-like powder formulated from a combination
of the earth’s minerals. It is called ‘skin care
makeup’ because it aids the health of the skin.
A thin application dusted over the skin acts as
a concealer, foundation, powder, and sunscreen!
Durable barrier:
Once applied it stays on until removed with cleanser.
A barrier is set up which hides almost every imperfection—and
achieves an even sunblock of about 20 SPF. It doesn’t
run, crease, or smear from water, perspiration,
tears, heat, etc. making it very popular with athletes,
stage peformers, and ‘outdoor people’.
Inert:
Particularly healthful for what it does not contain.
Common harmful and allergenic ingredients in traditional
makeup are eliminated—talc, perfumes, chemical dyes
and chemical preservatives. This makes it invaluable
in those with multiple/severe allergies, active
acne, rosacea, and even birthmarks. It obscures
the color red extremely well.
The look:
Mineral particles scatter light giving a sort of glow
and refracting light back at the observer and obscuring
underlying imperfections.
Of interest:
Mineral makeup is an example of technology creating
new cosmetics; for example, the old zinc oxide (white
noses at the pool) is now a micronized ingredient
in this makeup—with no whiteness.
