LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Why do laser hair removal?
Waxing, electrolysis, bleaching, creams, tweezing, and shaving are painful, tiresome, or not very effective. Unsightly facial, underarm, leg, back, or bikini area hair can be embarrassing. Troublesome ingrown hairs or razor bumps can be a big problem for certain people as well.
Is the treatment painful?
Almost never! Every laser pulse is combined with a very cold puff of fluid which numbs the surface for that instant….it is rare to have a patient say it hurts. No pain is encountered post treatment ‘99% of the time’.
Will the hair be gone in one treatment?
No. Getting rid of hair is a process because only about 20-40% of the hairs are susceptible to damage by the laser at a given time. Treatments need to be timed to the hair growth cycles so that the best results are obtained with each session. We offer a series of 6 treatments for the prepaid cost of 5. Treatments are 1-2 months apart…depending upon body area involved.
When I complete a series, will all my hair be gone forever?
No. You will almost certainly be very satisfied with the results; however, there may be areas of light ‘fuzz’ (vellus hairs) which are not unsightly. You may not need the 6th (last) treatment for a year following the 5th treatment. Some hair ‘creeps back’ to the extent that can use a ‘touchup’ treatment each year or so!
Things to know:
The laser won’t work on gray, blond, or very fine light hair.
The darker the hair and the lighter the skin….the better.
Your skin color, hair color, response to sunlight, and ethnicity are all important in determining
whether to treat, how to set the laser, your odds of success etc.
The presence of any suntan is important to know. It is best to allow time for suntan to fade before
treating.
No waxing, tweezing, or bleaching should be done for 1 month prior to treatment.
Mild cortisone cream or Emu oil may be used following a session.
Our equipment: We use the Candela GentleLase 755nm Alexandrite laser, which we feel to be the best available.
